Fernando Belasteguin
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Fernando Belasteguin
“I knew Fernando very little when I first played with him, I'd say nearly anything. However, I had seen him play a lot (most times against me) and I really liked his way of playing, so, late in 2001 I asked him to play together.
Undoubtedly, he is the perfect partner for any player but for me a lot more since he has a great defensive play which allows me to play my way (very offensive) calmly. He has improved his offensive play considerably, so in my opinion, my partner is at his peak, being definitely the most resourceful player of the circuit.
It's been 8 years playing together so far, and I hope to play with him for a long time”
Hernán “Bebe” Auguste
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Hernán Auguste
“I played only two years with him, as well. It was then that we learned to play the competitions with the responsibility of being the favourites, which was new to me. Our first year was very good, won many tournaments, achieved the first place in the International ranking and most important of all we won the World Championship (France 2000)”
Alberto Rodríguez Piñón
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Alberto Rodríguez Piñón
“I played with Alberto two years, which were quite different, the first year was one of the best ones though the second one was definitely the worst. In 1997, we won a lot of tournaments, we achieved the first place in the Spanish ranking and got in the first places in the international one. But in 1998, though we started pretty well, I got sick early in the summer and didn't play during two months. In September, I came back to play the President Cup (Madrid) and the World Championship (Argentina 1998) when we got in the finals. ”
José María Montes
Juan Martín Díaz writes about José María Montes
“I only played one year with Chema. At first, it was hard to adapt to each other but we ended up the year playing quite well. Our best tournament was the 1999 Spain Championship, when we beat Arias-Lahoz after having a Match Point against us”
Carlos Almazán
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Carlos Almazán
“I played with him my first two months in Spain. Since we both played on the same side, I had to change and we couldn't get good results”
Alejandro “El Mago” Sanz
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Alejandro Sanz
“He was the player I admired most and invited me to play.
I couldn't believe it!!
It was one of the best periods of my career though we were able to do our best or worst.
Playing beside him was a dream come true, we played together a World Championship (Argentina 94),
when we were beaten in semifinals by Lasaigues - Gattiker”
Leonardo Padovani
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Leonardo Padovani
“I got in my first quarterfinal with him thanks to an invitation to participate in a tournament which was held in our city (Mar del Plata). It was as if we had won the championship. I also played with him one of the competitions I best remember, it was in Paraguay and we beat the best two partners of that time: Alejandro Lasaigues - Roby Gattiker and Hernán Auguste - Mariano Lasaigues”
Ezequiel Lorenzo
Juan Martín Díaz writes about Ezequiel Lorenzo
“He was my first partner and one of my friends from my childhood.
I began playing professional tournaments with him. We played in a lot of qualifiers but couldn't manage to get in the quarterfinals.”
